The Cottonport Project is the Topic at the Next Chautauqua Nexus
This week's Chautauqua Nexus at the University of Louisiana at Monroe will feature speaker Bob Teague on "The Cottonport Project". It is set for Friday, Oct. 9th at 4:30 p.m. on the sixth floor of the library.
The Chautauqua Nexus web site has the following information
about the upcoming talk: "The Cottonport Project,"
which started with two area writers looking for a forum for their
work and the work of other area artists, has evolved over the
past year into a hothouse for creativity in northeastern Louisiana.
The weekly reading series, while not a school in the traditional
artistic sense of the word, has provided fertile ground for the
cross-pollination of forms, ideas and styles. The end goal of
the project is to build a framework for artistic voices that
represent the cultures and peoples of northeastern Louisiana.
It has already expanded from it's coffeehouse birthplace into
the streets with a quarterly magazine, regular art happenings,
members in various stages of publication, and most importantly
several non-writers who have been inspired to explore the art
      form as writers themselves."
