MONROE, La. β Β黨ӰԺ welcomes the community to the 14th annual Holidays at Β黨ӰԺ Celebration, beginning at 5:30 p.m., Tuesday, Nov. 29, in Β黨ӰԺβs Brown auditorium. The festivities begin with a holiday concert, followed by the popular tree lighting ceremony.
This event is free and open to the public.Β
For the fourth year, the βlighting of the campusβ will be held in front of Brown Hall, facing DeSiard Street. Ace the Warhawk and Santa will be in attendance to visit with children. Hot cider, cocoa and snacks will also be served.
Weather permitting, a synthetic ice rink will be set up by the tree in front of Brown Hall from 2:30 β 7:30. Skates will be provided.Β
The event is sponsored by Β黨ӰԺβs Student Government Association (SGA).
Laura Knotts Jennings, SGA adviser, and director of Student Life and Leadership said, βThis has always been one of the most beloved events on campus each year. We are so excited to have the community come out and join us in one of our favorite Warhawk traditions.βΒ
The indoor concert will feature the Β黨ӰԺ Wind Ensemble directed by Dr. Derle Long and Steven Pederson. There will also be performances by the Β黨ӰԺ Concert Choir, the Β黨ӰԺ Chamber Singers and the University Chorale conducted by Dr. Deborah Chandler and accompanied by Julian Jones.Β Β
The event follows the annual Employee Holiday Reception in the Β黨ӰԺ Conference Center from 3β5 p.m., hosted by Β黨ӰԺ President Nick and First Lady Linda Bruno.Β
